Commercial Diving Academy

Commercial Diving Academy (CDA) is the only accredited Commercial Diving School in the Southeast. CDA offers the most comprehensive and rigorous (16 weeks) program, at the lowest cost, of all the other accredited commercial diver training schools. CDA offers more internationally recognized certifications than any other training program. Our training partners include Specialty Welds, Ltd. providing the underwater welding curriculum and internationally recognized welding certification; Assure Technology (ANST level III Instruction and CWI) trains our students in non-destructive testing (NDT) and tests topside welding performance.

Commercial Diving Academy is the only school that offers a dormitory and cafeteria to further reduce the cost of training for our students. CDA is the only school that trains new divers in a 20’ training/orientation tank where the instructors can watch the student through a viewing port. After 4 weeks of orientation in the training tanks the students move to open water training on the St. Johns River, a low visibility swift moving tidal waterway to continue their training. CDA is located on 2.5 acres with over 500/ft of waterfront with a dive store, dormitory for 64 students, cafeteria, library, 130’ x 30’ barge and 40/ton mobile crane and 5 classrooms.

Dusty Harrison, placement director for a Florida school called the Commercial Diving Academy, says, " There's no telling how much work there is," thanks to a decade of hurricanes and a boom in oil exploration. During the Gulf's hurricane season, some welders work in West Africa and Asia.
